How ABC/ESPN Will Help You Keep Track of Your XFL Spread and XFL Over/Under
By this point, everybody knows the new XFL rules, and you can check out the XFL schedule if you have not already done so. But the XFL is not stopping with just their innovative rules, game schedule, and broadcast deals. Now, one of their broadcast partners is going to extend an olive leaf to you, the XFL bettor; ABC/ESPN plans to show all the XFL odds on-screen during the game. That’s right, you no longer have to check back in with your bet to remember the XFL spread or the XFL Over/Under during the game.
ABC/ESPN is going to display a brand new scorebug, exclusive to XFL broadcasts. The “scorebug” is the industry term for the scoreboard you see during every NFL broadcast. Usually the scorebug displays the teams, the score, timeouts left, and down and distance. As technology has advanced, so too have the scorebugs, but now, ABC/ESPN plans to break ground by providing two more pieces of valuable information during the game.

Why the Broadcast will Show the XFL Spread and XFL Over/Under
ABC/ESPN thinks it will help drive fan interaction and we might see an increase in XFL betting if they incorporate all the XFL spreads and over/unders into the actual broadcast of the game. They
plan to not limit this idea to merely displaying the numbers. ABC/ESPN is on the record as saying they want their announcers to discuss the XFL spread and the over/under when appropriate.
This was always a trademark of Brent Musberger and Al Michaels, both of whom enjoyed slyly dropping in references to the betting odds during the games. This spread (sorry) to other announcers this past season, including one that might have been a big surprise; if you were paying attention this past season, Joe Buck let slip some references to the NFL spread and over/under during some of their games on FOX.
It looks like it will be only a matter of time until all broadcasts start mentioning the spread, moneyline, and over/unders during games. The XFL is trying to break new ground in their Version 2.0, and while many people have been correctly concentrating on the new rules to see what innovations the league can come up with (and stick with), their biggest impact might be on the sports betting stage as they incorporate the XFL Spread and over/under into their broadcast. If that is a trend that continues, we will once again have to thank Vince McMahon for knowing the true meaning of the word, “entertainment,” and shining a spotlight on legal online sports betting.
