The Carolina Hurricanes look to avoid being eliminated by the Boston Bruins for the second straight postseason on Wednesday when they play Game 5 of their best-of-seven Eastern Conference first-round series in Toronto.
The Hurricanes, who were swept by the Bruins in last year’s conference finals, face a 3-1 series deficit after surrendering four goals in a span of 6:51 in the third period en route to dropping a 4-3 decision on Monday.
Teuvo Teravainen scored his third goal in five games on Monday, and fellow Finn Sebastian Aho set up a Jordan Martinook’s tally to increase his team-leading playoff totals in assists (eight) and points (11).

The Boston Bruins bid to eliminate the Carolina Hurricanes for the second time in as many postseasons on Wednesday when they play Game 5 of their best-of-seven Eastern Conference first-round series in Toronto.
The Bruins secured a 3-1 series advantage on the strength of scoring four goals in a span of 6:51 in the third period en route to a 4-3 victory on Monday. Jake DeBrusk had two of those goals and Brad Marchand tallied for the third straight game to fuel the rally.
DeBrusk has scored 13 playoff goals since making his postseason debut in 2018, a total that trails only Patrice Bergeron (16), David Pastrnak (16) and Marchand (16) on the team in that span.
