The Ravens Head to the Top of the Super Bowl Odds Board

Super Bowl Odds Week 14: Oh Raven!

Another week of NFL action is in the books, folks. Unlike the past few weeks, though, there was a bit of shakeup in terms of the teams that have the best chances of winning the big game in February. So, without further ado, here’s a look at those teams with the best odds of winning Super Bowl LIV.

Best SportBook 2019

New Orleans Saint Super Bowl Odds (+550). Last Week’s Odds (+600)

Coming into Week 13, the New Orleans Saints had posted eight wins in their previous nine outings. However, that one blemish came at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons – who defeated the Saints 26-9 on Nov. 10. Certainly, the Saints weren’t going to allow the Falcons to knock off them off again, right? Of course not. Though the Falcons made things interesting in the closing moments, the Saints came away with the 26-18 victory and clinched their third straight NFC South title in the process.

With the win, along with the Seattle Seahawks’ victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football, the Saints, 49ers, and Seahawks all have an identical 10-2 record. With the Saints and 49ers slated to face each other next week, they could move one step closer to securing home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

New England Patriots (+350). Last Week’s Odds (+280)

After winning their sixth Super Bowl title earlier this year, the New England Patriots were the favorites to repeat and they lived up to that expectation for most of the season. Despite a 37-20 loss at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens a few weeks ago, the defending champs remained the odds-on favorite to win it all again in 2020. Yes, the Pats bounced back with wins over the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, but their margin of victory was a combined 11 points in those two games.

The Pats were hoping to regain their championship form in this week’s matchup against the Houston Texans, but it wasn’t meant to be. The Texans jumped out to leads of 21-3 and 28-9 before the Patriots made the final score respectable (28-22). Despite outgaining the Texans by 172 yards, tallying 13 more first downs and recording a better third-down conversion rate, the Texans managed to hand the Patriots their second loss of the season.

Baltimore Ravens (+250). Last Week’s Odds (+350)

The Baltimore Ravens were playing .500 ball through their first four weeks of the season. After back-to-back losses against the Kansas City Chiefs (no shame in that) and the Cleveland Browns, it was difficult to determine the trajectory of this team. Since then, the Ravens had posted seven straight wins heading into their Week 13 matchup against the 49ers. Scoring against one of the best defensive teams in the league was not going to be an easy task for Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. As one would expect, this game came down to the final possession, with Ravens kicker Justin Tucker connecting on the game-winning field goal as time expired, allowing the Ravens to escape with a 20-17 win.

This marked the first time in franchise history that the Ravens have reeled off eight straight wins and it’s the first time they’ve been 10-2 after 12 games. Lamar Jackson didn’t have a great outing, completing 14 of 23 passes for 105 yards while losing one fumble. On the positive side, he ran for 101 yards, becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to have four 100-yard rushing outings in a season. Even more important, this win – combined with the Patriots’ loss to the Texans – the Ravens now have the top overall seed in the AFC for the time being. While it is difficult to determine if they will remain the favorites from a betting standpoint, if the Ravens continue to play well down the stretch, they will ensure that the road to the Super Bowl goes through their house, something that few predicted when the season began.
