Buccaneers at Raiders Betting Preview: Buccaneers (-4/-110), Raiders (+4/-110)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tom Brady is heading to Las Vegas, but this will be a business trip rather than a vacation. The future Hall of Fame quarterback and his teammates on Tampa Bay (4-2) will look to maintain their lead atop the NFC South division when they kick off in the desert on Sunday night in front of a national television audience.
The Buccaneers are coming off a resounding 38-10 win over the Green Bay Packers and hit the road as favorites against the Raiders.
Brady carries a 97.8 passer rating into the contest. He has completed 64.1 percent of his passes for 1,541 yards, 14 touchdowns and four interceptions through his first six contests. Running back Ronald Jones II (472 yards, three touchdowns) has done his part to provide a balanced attack, while the defense is led by veteran Jason Pierre-Paul with 5 1/2 sacks.
Three of Tampa Bay’s four victories have come by double digits.
Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas (3-2) is in second place in the AFC West division heading into its primetime matchup in Week 7. The Raiders have been the near-precise definition of average this season, scoring 151 points while giving up 152.
If momentum exists from game to game, the Raiders have it. Las Vegas posted a surprise 40-32 win on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs in its last game, and it had a bye week to recuperate and prepare for the Buccaneers. The victory snapped a two-game skid for Las Vegas.
Raiders quarterback Derek Carr will not get nearly the attention of Brady this weekend, but he has been the better signal-caller this season. Carr has a terrific 115.9 passer rating and has thrown for 1,442 yards, 11 touchdowns and only one interception while completing 73.1 percent of his passes.
Buccaneers at Raiders Betting Pick for Week 7
The Buccaneers are the more compelling team, but do they really deserve their status as clear favorites against the home-team Raiders? The guess here is no, particularly given the fact that the Raiders are coming off a statement win against Kansas City and could have a chip on their shoulder for being underdogs at home against Tampa Bay.
Brady is still very good but not perfect, as he showed two games ago in a one-point loss against the Chicago Bears. The Raiders are well-rested and have the ability to put up big points, even if their defense will give up points of its own.
Buccaneers at Raiders Betting Pick:
Raiders 31, Buccaneers 27
Buccaneers at Raiders Best Bet for Week 7
Here are the over-under totals for the Raiders’ first five games: 64, 58, 56, 53 and 72. Now, consider the fact that this weekend’s over-under was posted at 51 1/2 points this week.
Yes, the Buccaneers have had four of six games come in under the number, but look for a high-scoring affair just south of the Las Vegas strip on Sunday night.
