Buccaneers at Bears Betting Preview: Buccaneers (-5.5, -110), Bears (+5.5/-110)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay is heating up with three straight wins over the Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers. Now, the Buccaneers head north to the shores of Lake Michigan for their third road game this season.
What’s left to say about Tom Brady? At 43 years old, he is showing no signs of slowing down as he comes off a five-touchdown performance in the win over the Chargers. Brady already has thrown touchdown passes to six different receivers, led by dynamic wideout Mike Evans with five TDs.
The biggest question for Tampa Bay right now is health. Tight end O.J. Howard tore his Achilles and is out for the season, and Evans is among four wideouts currently dealing with injuries heading into Thursday night.
The Bears’ undefeated run finally came to an end last week with a lackluster loss to the Indianapolis Colts. It was the first start of the season for Nick Foles, who looked far less impressive than the previous week when he came off the bench to orchestrate a comeback win against the Atlanta Falcons.
For the second week in a row, Foles will go up against a tough defense. He needs more help from his offensive line as well as his running backs, but he also cannot afford to miss open receivers as he did in Week 4.
Chicago has a talented defense and will do its best to apply pressure on Brady. But will it be enough?
Buccaneers at Bears Betting Pick for Week 5
For the second week in a row, the Bears are listed as the home underdog. It was an appropriate designation last week as Chicago failed to cover against Indianapolis, although this week the spread is a bit larger: It opened the week at 5.5 points.
A win over Brady might be too much to ask, but look for the Bears to put forth a better effort this week and keep the score close — and likely cover the spread.
Foles has had another week to practice with Chicago’s starting offense, and Tampa Bay will be in a tough spot as it copes with an injury-riddled roster on a short week, combined with a long flight to Chicago.

Buccaneers at Bears Best Bet for Week 5
The Buccaneers are coming off a high-scoring game against the Chargers, and the majority of bettors might look to ride Brady’s hot hand going into Week 5. But Thursday night games are rarely pretty, and the Buccaneers could look for a more conservative game plan with so many skill players hobbled and on short rest.
In addition, the Bears know they cannot win a track meet with Brady and Tampa Bay. Their best bet is to chew up time of possession and hope for a takeaway or two that could swing the game’s momentum.
Buccaneers at Bears Best Bet: UNDER 44 points (-110)
