Seahawks at Cardinals Betting Preview: 49ers (+2.5/+100), Seahawks (-2.5/-121)
San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers (4-3) have won two games in a row, including a 33-6 victory last Sunday at New England, Bill Belichick’s worst home defeat with the Patriots. The running game and defense have been keys to San Francisco’s turnaround.
Jeff Wilson rushed for a career-high three touchdowns and 112 yards at New England, but suffered a high left ankle sprain that has put him on injured reserve. The 49ers hope to get running back Tevin Coleman (knee) back from the IR this week, which would boost a ground game that’s also without Raheem Mostert (ankle).
San Francisco’s defense, led by linebacker Fred Warner, ranks fifth in the NFL, allowing 309.6 yards per game. The 49ers are third in passing defense at 203.3 per game. Warner is among the top five linebackers in the league this season, according to Pro Football Focus, and the best in pass coverage. He had one of San Francisco’s four interceptions last weekend.
The Seahawks (5-1) are coming off their first loss of the season, a 37-34 overtime decision Sunday night at Arizona. Leading rusher Chris Carson (mid-foot sprain) will likely miss the NFC West showdown.
Quarterback Russell Wilson leads the league with 22 TD passes and a 119.5 quarterback rating, but doubled his interception total by throwing three picks against the Cardinals, including one that led to the winning field goal with 15 seconds left in overtime. That came after an apparent 48-yard touchdown pass to DK Metcalf was called back because of a penalty.
The Seahawks’ once-vaunted defense has allowed 2,875 yards through six games, including 2,212 through the air. No team in league history has allowed more in either category in that span.
All-Pro safety Jamal Adams, Seattle’s big offseason acquisition, has been out the past three games with a groin injury and remains questionable.
49ers at Seahawks Betting Pick for Week 8
The 49ers won 26-21 last season in Week 17 in Seattle in a game that decided the NFC West title. They’re 3-0 on the road so far this season.
San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who missed two games with a high-ankle sprain earlier this season, has been solid the past two weeks, throwing for 268 yards and three TDs in a 24-16 victory against the Los Angeles Rams before completing 20 of 25 passes for 278 yards against his former New England team.
Wilson’s QBR took a 10-point hit with three interceptions last week. With Carson (mid-foot sprain) likely out, Wilson will need to again make up for a porous defense. All three of Seattle’s home games have come down to the final 15 seconds and each of their past five games have been decided by eight points or less.

49ers at Best Bet for Week 8
The Seahawks, who failed to register a single quarterback hit on Arizona’s Kyler Murray last week on 48 pass attempts, traded for Cincinnati defensive end Carlos Dunlap on Wednesday but he won’t be eligible against the 49ers due to the NFL’s COVID-19 protocols.
The 49ers have shown they can win in Seattle with the 12th Man in the stands. There won’t be any crowd noise for Garoppolo to contend with Sunday, who should have plenty of time to find open receivers.
