Giants at Eagles Betting Preview: Giants (+4/-110), Eagles (-4/-110)
New York Giants
The Giants (1-5) hope to ride the momentum of their first victory of the season — a 20-19 decision over the Washington Football Team on Sunday — into Philadelphia, where they haven’t won since 2013. New York has lost seven in a row overall to the Eagles, although Daniel Jones threw for 301 yards and a touchdown in a 34-17 defeat in the last encounter on Dec. 29, 2019.
Jones has been using his legs in 2020, rushing for a season-high 74 yards on Sunday to boost his team-leading total to 204. Darius Slayton, who caught Jones’ lone touchdown toss against Washington, had a pair of scores and a career-high 154 receiving yards in New York’s 23-17 overtime loss in Philadelphia on Dec. 9, 2019.
The Giants would welcome the potential return to Sterling Shepard, who was able to return to practice on Tuesday after being sidelined since Sept. 20 with a toe injury. Shepard had nine catches — albeit for just 67 yards — in the two meetings with the Eagles last season.
The Eagles (1-4-1) would embrace a repeat performance by Boston Scott of his last meeting with the Giants, as the 5-foot-6 dynamo erupted for a career-high three touchdowns to help Philadelphia seize the NFC East title. Scott likely will be summoned for a bigger workload with fellow running back Miles Sanders nursing a knee injury.
Three-time Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz (ankle) also is not expected to be available on Thursday, thus providing yet another obstacle for Carson Wentz. Playing behind a makeshift offensive line, Wentz has been sacked a league-high 25 times this season — including six times in the Eagles’ 30-28 setback to Baltimore on Sunday.
Wentz, however, has created chemistry with Travis Fulgham, who has reeled in 16 receptions for 227 yards and two touchdowns in the past two games. Fellow wideouts Alshon Jeffery (foot) and DeSean Jackson (hamstring) could return to the nest on Thursday as well.
Giants at Eagles Betting Pick for October 22, 2020
For all of their injuries, the Eagles simply have the Giants’ number. And speaking of numbers, Wentz owns a 4-0 record on Thursdays while tossing 10 touchdowns against one interception.
It may not be pretty, but Philadelphia eventually will ascend into first place in the moribund NFC East.

Giants at Eagles Best Bet for October 22, 2020
The injury-ravaged Eagles are starting to resemble a battered Rocky Balboa late in his bouts, while the Giants’ offense (league-worst-tying 275.3 total yards, 31st-ranked 16.8 points per contest) doesn’t exactly pose a pretty picture either. The under seems like a safe bet here.
Giants at Eagles Best Bet: UNDER 43 total points (-110)
