Rams at 49ers Betting Preview: Rams (-3/-115), 49ers (+3/-105)
Los Angeles Rams
On track both offensively and defensively in a 30-10 victory at Washington on Sunday, the Rams are on a roll in advance of a visit to their longtime rival. The offense is balanced again with a revived rushing attack that is seventh in the NFL with 139.6 yards per game and has the second most attempts at 169. Quarterback Jared Goff is 11th in passing yards with 1,372.
The Rams would like nothing more than to get some payback on a 49ers team that defeated them twice last season. The teams also met in Week 6 last season and while San Francisco’s 20-7 victory seems unremarkable, Goff was held to a meager 78 yards passing.
The Rams already will be playing their fourth game on the road, but it will feel more like a home game since the first three were in the Eastern time zone. The Rams went 2-1 in those games.
San Francisco 49ers
As of now, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo appears ready to start his second consecutive game after coming back from a high right ankle sprain. His return last Sunday against the Dolphins was not all that triumphant when his mobility was compromised and was benched at halftime after going 7 of 17 for 77 yards and two interceptions. Miami rolled to a 43-17 victory.
San Francisco was just 2 of 10 on third down and 0 of 2 on fourth down, putting far too much pressure on its defense, which allowed 436 total yards. The Rams have spent the early part of the season trying to establish their running game, but figure to lean on Goff this week with the 49ers’ injury issues in the secondary.
The offensive line struggled against Miami and now faces defensive tackle Aaron Donald, who is coming off a four-sack game.
Rams at 49ers Betting Pick for Week 6
No matter the circumstances a game between these division rivals always matters and there figures to be plenty of energy Sunday. The Rams usually are impressive in their opening drive but tend to hit a lull midway through games. They could overcome that with more of a reliance on the passing game, which is expected.
The 49ers are in a tough spot with an injured quarterback and a banged up secondary. Now come games against the Rams, Patriots, Seahawks, Packers, Saints, Rams again and Bills in that order.
Rams at 49ers Betting Pick:
Rams 38, 49ers 20
Rams at 49ers Best Bet for Week 6
The Rams have scored at least 30 points in three of their last four games, doing so without being completely efficient with Sean McVay’s offense. Garoppolo was a full participant in the 49ers’ practice Wednesday, putting him further ahead that he was at this point last week and in a better spot to put in a much better showing this Sunday.
Rams at 49ers Best Bet: OVER 51.5 (-110)
