Raiders at Chiefs Betting Preview: Raiders (+13.5/-115), Chiefs (-13.5/-105)
Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders aren’t going to have a chance to be a true contender in the AFC West until they can figure out how to deal with the Chiefs. The Raiders have dropped 10 of the last 11 meetings and lost the last three meetings by a cumulative 103-22 score.
The thought of visiting Kansas City also can’t be too appealing as the Raiders have lost seven straight visits.
Las Vegas got off to a 2-0 start but has allowed an average of 33 points while losing back-to-back games to the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills. The Raiders are allowing 30 points per game and may have to get into a shootout with Kansas City to have any chance of springing an upset.
Quarterback Derek Carr has passed for 1,095 yards, eight touchdowns and no interceptions while Josh Jacobs has rushed for 300 yards and three scores.
Defensive tackle Maurice Hurst is out after being placed on the COVID-19 list. Tight end Darren Walker (knee) was limited at Wednesday’s practice but figures to be OK by kickoff.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs are 4-0 for the fourth consecutive season and they really haven’t hit their stride. Sure, three of their four wins have come by 14 or more points but the triumphs haven’t been as impressive as last season and the team needed a 58-yard field goal in overtime by Harrison Butker to defeat the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2. Being 4-0 with room to improve certainly isn’t a bad deal.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has passed for 1,134 yards and 11 touchdowns without an interception so he has continues to provide a star-level performance for a unit ranking ninth in scoring offense (29.3 points per game) and fifth in total offense (405.8).
Tight end Travis Kelce is off to a strong start with 24 receptions for 297 yards while Tyreek Hill has a team-leading four touchdown receptions. The Chiefs rank second in scoring defense (17.5) but are just 14th in total defense (356.0) and hope to have star defensive tackle Chris Jones (team-high 3.5 sacks) after he missed the 26-10 win over the New England Patriots in Week 4.
Mahomes made a mistake after Sunday’s game by exchanging hugs with Patriots star cornerback Stephon Gilmore, who later tested positive for COVID-19. That situation also bears as one to watch as some positive tests could emerge later in the week.
Raiders at Chiefs Betting Pick for Week 5
Kansas City’s dominance in the season makes it hard to see the Raiders being the team to hand the Chiefs their first loss of the season. Kansas City’s confidence level is extremely high against the Raiders and changing the name from Oakland to Las Vegas doesn’t change that. Raiders coach Jon Gruden will be hard-pressed to outcoach counterpart Andy Reid on this day.

Raiders at Chiefs Best Bet for Week 5
The over-under target is right on line for this tilt. A late score could decide the difference. Let’s look for this to fall slightly under.
Raiders at Chiefs Best Bet: UNDER 56.5 points (-115)
