To the extent that the preseason can have fans buzzing, Daniel Jones was the talk of the Big Apple after his debut against the Jets (5 of 5, 67 yards, TD). The team knows what it has in Eli Manning, so Jones figures to get a larger share of reps against Chicago, and he could be joined by the Giants’ starters, as he was for his only series in the opener.
Kyle Lauletta (116 yards, TD) and Alex Tanney (190 yards, TD) will keep fighting to convince the Giants to keep three QBs, though the backfield (with Saquon Barkley sitting) and receiving corps (Sterling Shepard out) leave a lot to be desired.
Matt Nagy is content keeping his starters mostly shelved, so while Mitchell Trubisky & Co. might see the field, it won’t be for long. Rookie David Montgomery flashed in the opener, but he also will have his reps limited. This is mostly the Chase Daniel show, and both teams will play it close to the vest with a Week 12 regular-season meeting on the schedule.
