Hello, football fans and welcome back to our weekly column about the teams who are in the running to win the Super Bowl. Last week, the list included the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, and the New Orleans Saints. Being that the top two teams on that list faced each other on Monday Night Football this past week, there is bound to be somewhat of a shakeup, right?
Here’s a look at the teams with the best odds to win the big game in 2021.
Third-Best 2021 Super Bowl Odds: Seattle Seahawks (+1000)
The Seattle Seahawks are making their first appearance on the title odds list this season. Seattle entered their Week 3 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys unbeaten through their first two games. It appeared they were on their way to an easy win after jumping out to a 30-15 lead, but the Cowboys refused to go away quietly.
In fact, they overcame the deficit and took a 31-30 lead with 4:03 left to play. However, the Seahawks managed to escape with a 38-31 victory, improving to 3-0 on the season. With injuries to several key players, though, it will be interesting to see if the Seahawks can continue their hot start.
Second-Best 2021 Super Bowl Odds: Baltimore Ravens (+650). Last Week’s Odds (+500)
A week ago, the Baltimore Ravens were tied with the Chiefs for the best title odds. But the Ravens hosted the Chiefs in Week 3 and the results were not good. In a contest featuring the quarterbacks who have won the last two MVP awards – Patrick Mahomes in 2018 and Lamar Jackson in 2019 – Mahomes came out on top in this one 34-20, helping the Chiefs to remain undefeated.
Although Jackson is an impressive 21-1 against the rest of the NFL, he is now 0-3 in his career against the Chiefs.
Best 2021 Super Bowl Odds: Kansas City Chiefs (+400). Last Week’s Odds (+500)
As previously mentioned, the Chiefs and Ravens were tied with the best odds going into Week 3. Thanks to Mahomes’ best outing of the season thus far, the Chiefs improved to 3-0 on the season. Mahomes completed 31 of 42 passes for 385 yards. He also threw four touchdowns in that game after recording five touchdowns in the first two games combined.
In addition to that, Mahomes has not thrown an interception this season, either. Although the Chiefs ended the Ravens’ 14-game regular-season win streak, but it will be interesting to see if they will retain the top spot with the New England Patriots on the horizon next week.
