Wildcats at Bulldogs Betting Preview: Wildcats (+13), Bulldogs (-13)
The Wildcats (2-3, 2-3 Southeastern Conference) came up short in their bid for a third consecutive victory with a 20-10 loss to Missouri last week. They managed only 145 yards in total offense against the Tigers and surrendered 220 yards rushing, but coach Mark Stoops expects his Wildcats to rebound.
“We’ll never be at the point where we’re going to panic,” Stoops said. “Are we happy with the way we played? I think you understand that we’re not.
“But nobody wants to throw away everything we’ve done and start over. … Whether you win or lose, we’re trying to get better. It’s frustrating when you take a step back. We have to have the team prepared to play.”
Kentucky quarterbacks Terry Wilson and Joey Gatewood combined to complete just five of 14 passes for 50 yards in the road loss. For the season, Wilson has completed 62 of 101 pass attempts for 602 yards and four touchdowns. Gatewood has completed two of five attempts in three outings for 18 yards.
Josh Ali is the leading receiver by far with 26 receptions for 293 yards and a touchdown.
The fifth-ranked Bulldogs (3-1, 3-1 SEC) will be looking for their 11th consecutive victory over the Wildcats in their first outing since a 41-24 loss to Alabama on October 17. The Bulldogs will be looking to find their offense after getting shutout in the second half at Alabama.
“The goal is, ‘get better,’ “Georgia coach Kirby Smart said. “You go back to the drawing board and work your tail off … We’re trying to say we are going to out-fundamental you.”
The Bulldogs seem to have accepted their loss to the Crimson Tide.
“You’re going to win some and lose some. It’s part of the game,” defensive back Lewis Cine said. “We will play to our standards and not allow certain plays to go by and capitalize on opportunities.”
Quarterback Stetson Bennett struggled against the Tide with just 18 completions in 40 pass attempts for 269 yards. He also threw his first three interceptions of the season. Zamir White has rushed for 266 yards for the season.
