Denver Nuggets Odds
The Nuggets stayed alive in the best-of-seven series with a 117-107 win over Utah in Game 5 on Monday with the series set to resume Sunday.
The win improved Denver’s record in potential elimination games to 7-5 since 2010. The Nuggets shot better than 50 percent from the field (50.6) in Game 5 for the second time in the series. They have won both those games. The key to the stay-alive win Monday: Second-half defense.
The Jazz outscored the Nuggets in the second half in all four previous games by an average of 64.0-55.0. In Game 5, Denver outscored Utah 63-44. Denver committed just 15 turnovers in the last two games, as opposed to 25 by Utah.
Utah Jazz Odds
The Jazz get their second of what could be three opportunities to close out Denver in Game 6. Utah wasted its first chance Monday, falling despite shooting 50 percent overall and better than 45 percent on 3-pointers for the fourth consecutive game.
This series has followed the same pattern as Utah’s most recent matchup with Denver in the 2019 first round, where the Jazz also lost Game 1, won Games 2-4 and lost Game 5. Utah went on to win Game 6 to advance. The last four series in which Utah has had a chance to close out its foe, it did so on the second opportunity. Donovan Mitchell has made 22 3-pointers in the series. The record for a six-game series is 26, set by Stephen Curry against Memphis in 2015.
