Los Angeles Lakers Odds
The Los Angeles Lakers (50-14) became the NBA’s second 50-game winner with their 103-101 win over the Clippers on opening night in the “bubble” Thursday. The Lakers’ magic number for clinching the top seed in the West is one.
Either a win over the Raptors or a Clippers loss to the Pelicans on Saturday would give the Lakers the distinction. With the team’s top two point guards — Avery Bradley and Rajon Rondo — out of action, Alex Caruso gave the Lakers 28 efficient minutes off the bench against the Clippers, scoring seven points and recording a plus-9 rating.
The Lakers lost to the Raptors 113-104 at home in the teams’ only previous meeting in November. LeBron James recorded a triple-double in the defeat: 13 points, 13 rebounds and 15 assists.
Toronto Raptors Odds
The Toronto Raptors, one of six teams that have not played yet in the “bubble,” find themselves dueling the Celtics for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference.
Toronto’s remaining schedule (.638 cumulative record of opponents) is the hardest among the 22 teams playing in central Florida. The Raptors have won 10 straight over the Lakers, with the last Los Angeles win a 129-122 overtime decision in November 2014.
This game was scheduled for Toronto on the NBA’s original schedule, and the Raptors have won their past five home games against the Lakers by an average of 15.6 points. Pascal Siakam (24 points, 11 rebounds) and Fred VanVleet (23 points, 10 assists) recorded double-doubles in Toronto’s 113-104 win at Los Angeles in November.
