The Best NBA Title Odds on the Internet

The Staples Center is Home to the Best NBA Title Odds in the Land

Another week of NBA action is in the books sports fans. Coming into the season, the list of the teams with the best odds to win it all in 2020 included the LA Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Now that we have reached the quarter mark of the season, it is time to look at how these teams are faring thus far. So, without further delay, here’s an updated look at the teams with the best odds to win the 2020 NBA championship, based on their performances from the past week (11/25 – 12/1).

No. 3 Spot This Week in NBA Title Odds Race: Milwaukee Bucks (+550—No Change)

The Milwaukee Bucks are the hottest team in the NBA right now. For starters, they coasted to a perfect 4-0 mark over the past week. This included a 41-point beatdown over the Charlotte Hornets. Secondly, the Bucks have posted wins in each of their previous 11 outings. As if those numbers aren’t good enough, Milwaukee is a top-five team in both offense and defense.

They are also the fastest-pace team in the NBA as well. Based on those stats, it’s kind of surprising that the Bucks’ odds haven’t somewhat improved. Despite the lack of respect, they will be a team to keep a watchful eye on as the season progresses.

No. 2 Spot This Week in NBA Title Odds Race: Los Angeles Lakers (+350—No Change)

The Los Angeles Lakers haven’t been to the playoffs since the 2012-13 campaign. However, they are off to a remarkable start this season. Behind the formidable duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Lakers have posted 17 wins in their first 20 games. To put that win total in perspective, it took them 34 games to reach the 20-win plateau last season. Additionally, the Lakers went 3-1 over the past week, with their lone loss coming against the Dallas Mavericks. The loss snapped the team’s 10-game winning streak.

While the Lakers’ didn’t have their best showing against the Mavericks, they are still ranked third in points allowed per contest (104.0) and third in defensive efficiency. They finished 21st and 12th in these categories a year ago. While the Lakers remain the team with the second-best odds to win it all, this is not a squad that anyone should sleep on by any means.

The NBA Title Odds on Favorite: the LA Clippers (+300). Last Week’s Odds (+300)

Unlike the other two teams we’ve discussed, the LA Clippers only had three games on their slate during the previous week. They held Luka Doncic to a 4-for-14 outing (0-for-8 from 3-point range) in a 114-99 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Nov. 26. They followed that up with 10-point loss to the San Antonio Spurs – a team that is currently seven games below the .500 mark. As is the case with most good teams, the Clippers bounced back from that loss with a 150-125 win over the Washington Wizards. This was the most points scored by any NBA team in the first half of a game this season.

With a record of 15-6, the Clippers haven’t enjoyed the same level of success as the Lakers. Furthermore, contrary to all the talk about their defense being the best in the league, the stats confirm that the Lakers are the better defensive team. Whichever LA team you choose to root for, championships are not won in December. At the same time, something tells me that these two squads will be battling it out for the conference crown come playoff time.
