Game Seven of the NBA Finals would reportedly take place on Oct. 12th if necessary
The picture of what the NBA restart might look like seems to be getting clearer. Earlier today, sources told ESPN that a timeline shared with teams for a potential season restart has marked down October 12th as the last possible day for an NBA Finals Game Seven. This timeline follows the proposed 22-team format that would have the league resume the season starting on July 31st.
According to ESPN’s sources, Commissioner Adam Silver is expected to have a proposal for the NBA’s Board of Governors to vote on when they speak on Thursday. Sources are also saying that if the proposed 22-team format is approved, then the league would hold the draft and free agency in that order in October following the conclusion of the NBA Finals.
The plan that seems to be gaining the most momentum for an NBA restart involves 22 teams. The top eight seeds from both the Eastern and Western Conferences will participate in regular-season games, play-in games, and playoff games. ESPN’s sources are reporting that “six more teams within six games of the eighth seed in each conference” will also participate in these match-ups as well.
