Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Phoenix Suns Betting Odds for August 10, 2020

In a twist that literally nobody saw happening, the Phoenix Suns are now the only unbeaten team remaining in the NBA Bubble. The Suns are 5-0 in the bubble and have been the most impressive/surprising team so far.

Initially, there were questions over the Suns being invited to the bubble considering they were 26-39 when the season was suspended on March 11 and it looked highly unlikely that there were going to rack up the wins to challenge for a playoff spot.

Well, in a complete turnaround, the Suns are just one game behind the Portland Trail Blazers in the ninth seed, and two games behind the Memphis Grizzlies in the eighth seed.

Aside from their win against the Washington Wizards on the opening day of the restart, their other four wins have come against legitimate playoff/title-contending teams in the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers, Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat.

Book It: Why the Suns Continue to Surprise

If there’s one man who deserves the praise, it’s Devin Booker. A star player caught up in a dysfunctional whirlwind of an organization. However, the appointment of Monty Williams alongside players who complement Booker’s game has seen the Suns actually go on a win-streak for really the first time in his six years in Phoenix.

Head coach Monty Williams was asked why the Suns have been so impressive since the restart and he gave all the praise to his players and the feeling to prove themselves.

“You’re really giving me a lot of credit, man,” Williams said to ESPN. “I don’t really know. I could give you some coach-speak, but I don’t know. I just think we have a group that wanted to come here and prove to the world that they were worthy of being here.

“They heard a lot of the stuff being said. I think when people say stuff about you, you want to prove them wrong. If I had to guess that would be it, but this is who we are.

“We’ve been competitive all year; we’ve been a scrappy team. We play teams hard; we share the ball; we try to make the right plays. We’ve tried to stick to our DNA and not get outside of that.”

Thunder vs. Suns Betting Odds: Why the Thunder Can Continue to Roll

The job is not over yet as they play Oklahoma City Thunder who are the fifth seed in the Western Conference.

OKC is another team that’s surprised practically everyone this season. Before the season commenced, they were given a 1% of reaching the playoffs after the departures of Russell Westbrook and Paul George.

However, the arrival of Chris Paul alongside the continued growth of Shai Gilgeous Alexander has sparked this team and led them to a brilliant season where they are currently set to face the Denver Nuggets in the first round.

After blowing out the Lakers on Wednesday night, OKC suffered a blowout of their own when they came up short against the Memphis Grizzlies in a 121-92 loss.

Chris Paul lamented his team’s defense in their loss to the Grizzlies.

“They started making shots,” Paul said. “We never really made them feel us all game long. They were just so comfortable. They got a little bit of everything. They got floaters, they got the threes, they got to the free-throw line. Our defense was just bad today.”

Despite the Suns’ winning run, they enter the game as underdogs with odds of +165 to win the game. OKC are favorites with odds of -150 to get back to winning ways.
