San Antonio Spurs Odds
The San Antonio Spurs (30-38) trail eighth-place Memphis (33-37) by two games with three to play, but they still must pass Portland (32-39) and Phoenix (31-39) for a spot in the NBA’s new play-in tournament. The Spurs have won three of five in the bubble, scoring 119 or more points four times.
In the absence of LaMarcus Aldridge (shoulder surgery), seven players are averaging double-figure points since the restart, led by Derrick White at 21.8 per game. DeMar DeRozan is averaging 20.4 points per game over the last five, shooting 54.7 percent from the field.
The Spurs prevailed in their only previous meeting with the Pelicans, shooting 50.6 percent overall and 40.7 percent on 3-pointers in a 121-117 victory at New Orleans in which Aldridge had 32 points and 14 rebounds.
New Orleans Pelicans Odds
The New Orleans Pelicans (30-39) have a chance to pass the Spurs (30-38) in the Western Conference standings in this key showdown. New Orleans has three games remaining and must pass three teams for a spot in the NBA’s new play-in tournament.
After the Spurs, the Pelicans finish with Sacramento and Orlando. The Pelicans rested Zion Williamson on the second night of a back-to-back Friday and still managed to beat Washington behind Jrue Holiday’s 28 points for just their second win in five games in the bubble. Williamson contributed 23 points to a key win over Memphis and 24 to a loss to Sacramento in his previous two games.
The Pelicans will be seeking to avoid getting swept in the season series by the Spurs, who spoiled Williamson’s debut with a 121-117 win at New Orleans in January.
