Denver Nuggets Odds
Five games into their bubble schedule, the Nuggets are pretty much right where they started: Third place in the Western Conference, with a chance to move as high as second, and a chance to fall as low as fifth. The remaining schedule is a doozy: Lakers, Clippers, Raptors.
The Nuggets have made the playoffs 25 times in their 44 NBA seasons. If they’ve gone into the postseason seeded third or lower, they’ve escaped the first round just three times. No Nuggets are among the finalists for the NBA’s six major awards.
Star guard Jamal Murray played for the first time in the bubble in Saturday’s double-overtime win over Utah, contributing 23 points and 12 rebounds to the win. He had been out with a minor hamstring injury.
Los Angeles Lakers Odds
The Lakers have clinched the top seed in the Western Conference and will open the playoffs with whoever survives the play-in tournament for the No. 8 spot. A Lakers-Nuggets matchup remains possible for the second round.
The Lakers have a chance to win the season series over the Nuggets for the first time since 2012, having won two of the first three meetings. From 2013-19, the Nuggets went 18-7 against the Lakers, winning six series and tying one. The last four meetings between the two teams have been won by the visiting team, including all three previously this season.
The Lakers and Nuggets have met six times in the playoffs. The Lakers have won all six. The last time they met was in the 2012 first round.
