Miami Heat odds
Jimmy Butler and Goran Dragic look to follow up strong opening performances when the Miami Heat attempt to take a 2-0 lead over the Indiana Pacers on Thursday in the Eastern Conference first-round series.
Butler scored 28 points in Game 1 and Dragic moved into the starting lineup to contribute 24 points in a 113-101 triumph in which the Heat finished on a decisive 28-14 run. Dragic, a veteran point guard, started just three games in the regular season but he moved into the starting five when rookie shooting guard Kendrick Nunn (67 starts) was pulled due to his recent shaky play. Nunn didn’t see any action in the opener.
The benching also opened up more playing time for rookie shooting guard Tyler Herro, who scored 15 points in 34 minutes.
Indiana Pacers odds
The Indiana Pacers hope to see guard Victor Oladipo on the floor Thursday when they attempt to even their Eastern Conference first-round series against the Miami Heat at one game apiece. Oladipo played just eight-plus minutes in Tuesday’s 113-101 loss after being inadvertently poked in the left eye by Miami’s Jae Crowder in the opening quarter.
The eye initially was swollen before later calming down and Pacers coach Nate McMillan said Wednesday that the club will make a decision on Oladipo’s availability in the hours before tipoff.
Forward T.J. Warren and guard Malcolm Brogdon shared team-high scoring honors with 22 in Game 1 with Warren’s effort (9 of 18, 4 of 5 from 3-point range) being much more crisp than the one delivered by Brogdon (6 of 18 and 1 of 6, respectively).
