Utah Jazz Odds
The Utah Jazz attempt to avoid what would be a season-ending, three-game losing streak as they enter Tuesday’s Game 7 of the Western Conference first-round series against the Denver Nuggets. Utah dropped the last two games by scores of 117-107 and 119-107.
The Jazz has never lost a playoff series in which they led 3-1. This will be the sixth Game 7 in Jazz history. They have won three of the previous five, including over Denver in the first round in 1994. Donovan Mitchell needs two 3-pointers to pass Stephen Curry (32 in 2016) for most in a playoff series, and 10 points to pass LeBron James (241 in 2018) for most in a first-round series.
The Jazz are 3-1 when Mitchell has outscored rival Jamal Murray in the series, but 0-2 when Murray has held the upper hand.
Denver Nuggets Odds
The Denver Nuggets will attempt to win a playoff series after being down 3-1 for the first time in franchise history when they face the Utah Jazz on Tuesday in the final game of the Western Conference first-round matchup.
Denver played a pair of seven-game series last year, beating San Antonio in the first round before losing to Portland in the second. The Nuggets have gone 2-3 all-time in Game 7’s. Jamal Murray has outscored Jazz counterpart Donovan Mitchell 42-30 and 50-44 in the last two games, leading Denver to wins.
Mitchell had won the head-to-head in each of the first four games of the series, helping Utah win three of those games. Nikola Jokic has outscored Jazz center Rudy Gobert 53-22 in the last two games, hitting 10 of his 16 3-point attempts.
The Nuggets welcomed back Gary Harris from a hip injury in Game 6. In his first action since the restart, the regular starter was one of four members of the Denver reserve crew that recorded plus-11 or better plus/minuses.
Field Level Media Betting Predictions for Jazz vs. Nuggets on September 1, 2020
Donovan Mitchell had to remind his emotionally drained team that the series is not over after the Game 6 defeat. Utah has good reason to be down.
Denver has finally figured a way to use its superior size and depth to its advantage, and with the momentum, should skate into the next round.
FLM Prediction: Nuggets (-1, -110) 104, Jazz 96
Field Level Media’s Best Bet for Jazz vs. Nuggets on September 1, 2020
It’s Game 7 of a playoff series and Donovan Mitchell has to be tired. He put up 44 points in Game 6 and Utah still managed to score just 107 points.
The return of Gary Harris in Game 6 gives Denver one more fresh body to throw at him. Did I mention it’s Game 7, which means a lot of tension and no fans in the stands to provide an energy boost?
FLM Best Bet: Jazz under 109.5 points (minus-120)
