Cleveland Indians Odds
Adam Civale gets the call Sunday when Cleveland aims for a series sweep of host St. Louis in Busch Stadium. Civale has lasted at least six innings in all six starts this year, although he took a 3-2 loss Monday night at home against Minnesota.
This will be his first career outing against the Cardinals. Offensively, Carlos Santana went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts Saturday in the Indians’ 2-1, 12-inning win, but still boasts an on-base percentage of better than .400 thanks to 33 walks.
Francisco Lindor stretched his hitting streak to a modest five games with a single during a 1-for-4 effort Saturday.
St. Louis Cardinals Odds
Veteran Adam Wainwright will try to stop St. Louis’ four-game losing streak Sunday when he takes the mound against Cleveland at home.
Wainwright is coming off consecutive no-decisions in which he pitched seven innings and allowed four runs in each game (though two of the runs were unearned). He’s faced the Indians just once in his career, permitting a run in two innings of relief in 2006. The offense has been terrible lately, managing just six runs in the four-game skid.
One guy not at fault is Brad Miller, who even after an 0-for-2 Saturday is still hitting .327 with an on-base percentage pushing .500. One guy who has struggled is Tyler O’Neill, whose average fell to .164 after an 0-for-3 Saturday.
