St. Louis Cardinals Odds
St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Daniel Ponce de Leon (0-1, 6.75 ERA) is scheduled to get the call Tuesday night to oppose the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
The hard-throwing Ponce de Leon hasn’t pitched since a 3-0 loss at Minnesota on July 29. He has faced Chicago just once in his career, tossing a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout in 2018. Dexter Fowler is off to a good start since the Cardinals’ season resumed on Saturday, going 4-for-10 in four games, including a solo homer Monday in the opener of a doubleheader.
Kolten Wong continues to struggle, going 1-for-10 in the second stage of the club’s season.
Chicago Cubs Odds
Right-hander Yu Darvish goes to the mound Tuesday night when the Chicago Cubs continue their five-game series with the visiting St. Louis Cardinals.
Darvish dominated the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday, allowing just one run on one hit and fanning 11 in seven innings of a 4-2 home win. He is 0-2 with a 4.07 ERA in four career starts against St. Louis. Kris Bryant can’t find traction, seeing his average dip to .177 after going 1-for-7 in the Monday doubleheader. He is 4-for-26 (.154) in his past seven games.
On the other hand, Ian Happ cracked his fourth homer in the opener Monday, and he owns a .994 OPS that ranks 10th in the National League.
