Washington Nationals Odds
After losing the first two games of their four-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies this week, the Washington Nationals will try to snap the slide Wednesday behind Max Scherzer (3-1, 3.86 ERA).
The right-hander traditionally has pitched well at Citizens Bank Park, going 5-0 with a 2.40 ERA with 56 strikeouts in seven starts covering 48 2/3 innings. Scherzer is coming off a month of August in which he went 3-0 with a 4.38 ERA. The Nationals have lost four straight and seven of eight.
Center fielder Victor Robles has missed the past two games for a rest, as manager Dave Martinez said he felt Robles’ legs “were just getting heavy on him.”
Philadelphia Phillies Odds

After scoring 29 runs in their past four games entering Tuesday, the Phillies rolled past the Nationals 6-0 behind eight shutout innings from Aaron Nola and timely hitting that included a solo home run from Alec Bohm and a three-run drive from Andrew McCutchen.
Right-hander Zack Wheeler (3-0, 2.58 ERA) will look to stay sharp. Wheeler hasn’t yielded more than three earned runs in any of his six starts as he prepares to face a Nationals team against whom he typically has struggled. Wheeler is 5-10 with a 5.01 ERA in 18 career starts against Washington with 88 strikeouts in 106 innings.
