New York Yankees
The Yankees appear to be peaking in the right direction and are getting gradually healthier. While Aaron Judge (calf) and Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) are rehabbing at the team’s alternate site, Gio Urshela is expected to return Tuesday after missing a little over a week with a right elbow injury.
Urshela will rejoin a lineup that has outscored opponents 28-5 during a five-game winning streak that has followed a 5-15 slide. New York’s rotation is showing improvement since some early struggles, producing a 1.95 ERA in the past nine games.
Rookie Deivi Garcia (1-1, 3.06 ERA) will make his fourth career start and second in a row against Toronto. He faced the Blue Jays on Wednesday and picked up his first career win by allowing two runs on five hits in seven innings.
Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays have seven games remaining against the Yankees, starting with their Tuesday visit to the Bronx. Toronto scored 12 runs in its first game against the Yankees last week but was held to four runs in the next two games.
Overall, the Blue Jays are 8-4 in their past 12 games after taking two of three from the New York Mets over the weekend. The Blue Jays opened the series with an 18-1 loss but ended it with a 7-3 win Sunday when Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a two-run homer and Hyun Jin Ryu allowed a run in six innings.
Taijuan Walker (3-2, 2.95 ERA) will make his fourth start since being obtained from Seattle. He is 1-0 with a 1.15 ERA for Toronto, and he allowed just two hits in four scoreless innings Sept. 8 against the Yankees. Walker is 0-2 with a 3.06 ERA in three career starts vs. the Yankees.
Blue Jays at Yankees Betting Pick for September 15, 2020
Gleyber Torres is on a roll since returning from a hamstring injury. His pinch-hit, two-run double Sunday gave him seven hits in 14 at-bats over his past five games while wearing the same fashion glasses he wore at times last season. Look for Torres to continue his roll and the Yankees get their sixth straight win.
Yankees at Blue Jay: Yankees (-269), Blue Jays (+662)
Yankees at Blue Jays Betting Pick: Yankees 5, Blue Jays 4
Yankees at Blue Jays Best Bet for September 15, 2020
While both teams feature productive lineups, look for pitching to limit the scoring chances at times to prevent an outright slugfest and keep this game a moderately scored affair.
Yankees at Blue Jays Best Bet: UNDER 9.5 runs (-114) for both teams.
