New York Yankees Odds
The Yankees are seeking their fourth straight win Saturday, as their bats appear to be turning it around. New York scored 13 total runs in a five-game losing streak before amassing 23 runs over the past three games.
In a doubleheader sweep of the Orioles on Friday, New York belted five homers, two of them from Luke Voit in a 10-1 win in the nightcap. DJ LeMahieu, Brett Gardner and Kyle Higashioka went deep as the Yankees took the first game 6-0.
After getting outstanding starting pitching from Gerrit Cole and Masahiro Tanaka in the twin bill, the Yankees are hoping to see some improvement from Jordan Montgomery, who is winless in his past four starts. Montgomery (2-2, 5.72 ERA) has not provided the Yankees with distance in his past two outings, getting two outs Sept. 1 against Tampa Bay and then laboring through 3 1/3 innings Monday against Toronto.
Baltimore Orioles Odds
The Orioles got back into the playoff race with six wins in eight games, including three over the Yankees last weekend, but enter Saturday’s game on a three-game skid in which they have allowed 23 runs. Baltimore’s last win was an 11-2 rout on Tuesday against the Mets. Since taking a 5-1 lead vs. the Mets on Wednesday, the Orioles have been outscored 22-2.
Baltimore gave Keegan Akin a second straight start against the Yankees on Friday, and he could not get past the first inning. They are hoping to avoid a similar showing from Dean Kremer on Saturday after he allowed one run in six innings Sunday.
Kremer (1-0, 1.50 ERA) retired 12 consecutive hitters at one point on Sunday and became the fourth starting pitcher in team history to throw at least six innings and allow one hit or none in his debut.
Orioles at Yankees Betting Pick for September 12, 2020
The Yankees’ bats appear to be emerging from the funk that sent the team into a 6-15 tailspin. Facing a rookie pitcher for the second time likely will generate some better results for their offense, especially with how Voit and LeMahieu are hitting lately.
Orioles at Yankees Betting Pick: Yankees (-185), Orioles (+155)
Yankees 6, Orioles 3
Orioles at Yankees Best Bet for September 12, 2020
LeMahieu appears to be on another roll after a brief lull following his return from the injured list in late August. He was 3-for-7 on Friday and is 6-for-18 (.333) in his past six games after going 2-for-11 last weekend in Baltimore.
Orioles at Yankees Best Bet: LeMahieu over 1 hit (-115) for the Yankees.
