Philadelphia Phillies Odds
Zack Wheeler will start against his former team Monday afternoon when the Phillies conclude their four-game series with the New York Mets. Wheeler signed with the Phillies in the offseason after not being offered a contract by the Mets, who acquired him in 2011 as a young prospect from the San Francisco Giants.
Wheeler is 4-0 with a 2.20 ERA and is facing the Mets for the second time this season. He beat New York in Philadelphia on Aug. 16, allowing two runs in seven innings of a 6-2 win. The Phillies are 10-3 in their last 13 games but are coming off a pair of losses in which they were outscored a combined 19-2.
New York Mets Odds
The New York Mets are coming off three straight outings where a starting pitcher completed at least five innings and hope to see some length from rookie David Peterson on Monday against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Peterson is 4-1 with a 3.03 ERA in his six appearances, his most in relief Wednesday in which gave up two hits and no runs over four innings to get the win against the Baltimore Orioles. Peterson has not allowed more than three runs in any start this season but has pitched into the sixth only twice.
New York has won four of five since dropping five straight, and pounded out 17 hits — including two homers by Pete Alonso — in Sunday’s 14-1 win. Alonso has homered in three of his last four games.
Phillies vs. Mets Betting Pick for September 7, 2020
Despite two of their worst games of late, the Phillies are 10-3 in their last 13 contests and Zack Wheeler has been their second-best pitcher all season. Wheeler has consistently pitched well all season and it is unlikely to change Monday, giving the Phillies the split of the four-game series.
Phillies vs. Mets Betting Pick for September 7, 2020: Phillies (-114), Mets (-103)
Phillies 5, Mets 3
Phillies vs. Mets Best Bet
Despite being in an 8-for-46 slump over his last 15 games, Bryce Harper has hit much better against left-handed pitching (.324 compared to .247 vs. righties). Look for Harper’s struggles to take a break and figure he will get at least one RBI.
Phillies vs. Mets Bet: Harper At least one RBI
