Chicago Cubs Odds
The visiting Chicago Cubs will aim for their third straight victory Tuesday as they continue an interleague series against the Detroit Tigers.
Chicago rolled to a 9-3 win Monday behind two home runs from Javier Baez, who is hitting .280 (7-for-25) in his past seven games after entering that stretch batting .200. Right-hander Tyler Chatwood (2-1, 5.40 ERA) is set to start for the Cubs as he returns from the injured list after recovering from a mild back strain.
Chatwood hasn’t pitched since allowing eight runs and 11 hits in 2 1/3 innings in an Aug. 6 loss to the Kansas City Royals. Chatwood is 0-1 with a 4.61 ERA in three career appearances against the Tigers, including two starts.
Detroit Tigers Odds
After losing 9-3 in Monday’s series opener, the Detroit Tigers will look to respond Tuesday as they play host to the Chicago Cubs. Righty Spencer Turnbull (2-2, 3.65 ERA) will start for Detroit as he aims to improve his command.
Over his past two starts, Turnbull has walked eight batters in 6 2/3 innings after issuing just three walks in 13 innings in the two starts prior to that. Turnbull, who pitched a season-low two innings in a Thursday loss to the Chicago White Sox, will oppose the Cubs for the first time in his three-year career.
Jeimer Candelario went 0-for-4 with an RBI on Monday as his six-game hitting streak ended. Christin Stewart hit his first home run since July 28 in the loss.
