Colorado Rockies Odds
Charlie Blackmon returned Tuesday from a one-day absence caused by left quadriceps tightness, and the visiting Colorado Rockies earned a 5-4 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Blackmon went 0-for-3 but walked twice as his batting average dropped to .395, the first time it has been under .400 since Aug. 6.
Garrett Hampson ended a 1-for-24 slide with a home run. Nolan Arenado had a pair of run-scoring doubles, his first extra-base hits on the road all season. Right-hander Jon Gray (1-3, 6.23 ERA) is scheduled to be on the mound Wednesday at Arizona.
His worst outing of the season came Aug. 10 at home against the Diamondbacks when he gave up eight runs on 11 hits in just 3 1/3 innings. The Rockies are 15-15 at the midway point of their season.
Arizona Diamondbacks Odds
The Arizona Diamondbacks are on a seven-game losing streak heading into their home game against the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday. Jon Jay hit a home run Tuesday, his first since July 18, 2018.
Christian Walker has a home run in each of the first two games of the series, giving him three on the season. Left-hander Robbie Ray (1-3, 8.33 ERA) is scheduled to be on the mound Wednesday. His experiment with mechanics has been a bust, and he enters having allowed at least four runs in four of his past five starts.
In 18 career starts against the Rockies, Ray is 5-5 with a 5.58 ERA. Colorado put up six runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings against Ray on Aug. 10 in Denver.
