Wisconsin Badgers at Michigan State Spartans

Michigan State Spartans Preview

The Michigan State Spartans have bounced back from a stretch in which they lost two of three games, posting an 18-point win at Minnesota and a 29-point home rout of Northwestern. They will be going for their ninth consecutive victory over Wisconsin and a season sweep after a 67-55 home victory just two weeks ago, when junior forward Xavier Tillman compiled 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

The Spartans showed patience against the Badgers’ slow-down approach, posting 20 assists on 27 baskets. Point guard Cassius Winston (18 points, 5.9 assists per game) is having the expected All-America season, but also watch for freshman forward Malik Hall, who has started the past two games, contributing 13 total points.

Wisconsin Badgers Preview

It has been a tough week for the Wisconsin Badgers, including the announced transfer of Kobe King, who was the team’s second-leading scorer at 10 points per game. Another starter, Brad Davison (8.8 points per game), committed a flagrant-1 foul on Monday night in Wisconsin’s 68-62 loss at Iowa and will be suspended for the game against Michigan State.

The Badgers, who have lost three of their past four games, don’t have a lot of offense to spare, but Nate Reuvers leads the way with 13.8 points per game for a team that has the fourth-lowest tempo in the country, according to kempom.com. On the bright side, the Badgers are 9-1 at home.
