West Ham United vs Liverpool FC

Liverpool Odds Against West Ham

It’s 40 up for Liverpool. After their 2-1 win at Wolves on Thursday, Liverpool equaled Chelsea’s record of going 40 league games unbeaten; the second-longest streak in Premier League history. It didn’t come easy, however.

It was perhaps Liverpool’s toughest game to date. Despite going ahead in the first 10 minutes through captain Jordan Henderson, Wolves’ attacking threat stayed relevant and the enigma that is Adama Traore caused Andy Robertson havoc all night long down the left flank.

Liverpool was dealt a blow in the 33rd minute after Sadio Mane was replaced by Takumi Minamino who was making his Premier League debut after the Senegalese winger suffered an injury.

His absence was noticeable as Liverpool’s attack was not as free-flowing as usual and Wolves’ relentless pressure paid off after Adama Traore put a fizzing ball into the box where Raul Jimenez headed in past Alisson; a goal that ended Liverpool’s hopes of eight straight clean sheets.

Wolves only grew after their goal and as the stadium cheered their team on, Wolves almost went ahead through Adama Traore and Raul Jimenez, but both were stopped by brilliant saves by the Brazilian keeper.

And while one Brazilian was keeping Liverpool in the game, another put them ahead. Jordan Henderson’s pass found Roberto Firmino whose left-foot strike found the top corner to put Liverpool 2-1 up in the 84th minute.

Liverpool Odds Against an Historically Tough West Ham Squad

The Reds withstood Wolves’ pressure in the final minutes to claim their 14th league win in a row.

They are now 16 points ahead of Manchester City and they can extend that to 19 when they travel to play West Ham in their remaining game in hand.

The London club has continued their poor form despite the appointment of David Moyes in late December.

Despite the former Everton and Man United boss emphatically winning his first game in charge with a 4-0 win over Bournemouth, he’s followed that up with a 1-0 defeat away to Sheffield United, a 1-1 draw with Everton and a 4-1 thrashing away to Leicester City.

Liverpool has historically had troubles away to West Ham however recent history tells a different story.

Liverpool is unbeaten in their last six league meetings with West Ham with four wins and two draws. Two of those wins came at West Ham (0-4, 1-4) and West Ham’s last win against Liverpool came in 2016.

Sportsbooks odds on Liverpool claiming their 15th win a row open at -300, making them favorites. Odds on a West Ham win open at +700, according to sportsbooks. Odds on a draw opens at +425.

Will Liverpool Win the Title at the Etihad Stadium?

With Liverpool’s win over Wolves, it set up an opportunity for Liverpool to win the league at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium if conditions are right. Both teams must win their next nine games until the two clubs meet on April 4th where a Liverpool win can see them clinch the title at the stadium of their closest rivals.

What a moment that could be with the current champions being dethroned and humiliated in their own home. You can guarantee Liverpool fans are counting the days until that match-up.
