Tennessee Volunteers at Kansas Jayhawks

Tennessee Volunteers Odds

Fifth-year Tennessee Volunteers coach Rick Barnes picked up his 100th victory at the school on Tuesday in a 73-48 rout of visiting Ole Miss. Barnes, who coached at Texas for 17 seasons, returns to Big 12 country and Allen Fieldhouse with Tennessee looking for its first true road win over an AP top-5 foe since beating top-ranked Memphis in 2008.

The Volunteers are 4-3 since standout guard Lamonte Turner announced before Christmas he would undergo season-ending shoulder surgery, but they have had Arizona State transfer center Uros Plavsic available for the past three games. The 7-foot freshman is averaging only 4.3 points and 1.3 rebounds but adds needed height to a roster with no other regular taller than 6-9.

Kansas Jayhawks Odds

The Kansas Jayhawks would like to move on from talking about the brawl at the end of their Tuesday win against Kansas State, but the effects linger with reserve forward Silvio De Sousa suspended for 12 games and starting forward David McCormack out for two. With McCormack missing, coach Bill Self could employ more four-guard lineups, which might mean increased opportunity for freshman Christian Braun, who poured in a career-high 20 points against Kansas State, hitting 6 of 10 from 3-point range.

The one big man in the mix is one of the best in the country — senior Udoka Azubuike, who is shooting a national-best 77.7 percent while averaging 12.9 points and 9.5 rebounds.
