Pittsburgh Steelers at New York Jets

Pittsburgh Steelers Preview

The Pittsburgh Steelers (8-6) can keep control of their playoff chances with a win Sunday against the New York Jets (5-9). Win their final two games, and the Steelers are in. Despite four interceptions and a 43.9 passer rating in a 17-10 loss to Buffalo last week, undrafted rookie quarterback Devlin “Duck” Hodges remains Pittsburgh’s starter, now with a 3-1 record.

Wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) remains uncertain in attempts to return from a four-game absence. The defense continues to be the team’s steel backbone. That defense, allowing 3.7 yards a carry, will face former Steelers two-time All-Pro running Le’Veon Bell for the first time.

New York Jets Preview

The New York Jets (5-9) will miss the playoffs for the ninth year in a row but are trying to reach six wins for the first time in four years going into their game Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers (8-6). Quarterback Sam Darnold has thrown 11 touchdowns against only three interceptions since Week 10.

Running back Le’Veon Bell, who had a season-best 87 yards rushing last week in a 42-21 loss to Baltimore, will face his former team for the first time. The Jets’ defense leads the NFL in allowing 3.3 yards a carry. The Steelers ran the ball just 15 times for 51 yards last week.
