San Antonio Spurs Preview

The San Antonio Spurs begin their annual Rodeo Road Trip with a contest against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday. This season’s trip is eight games long, with the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo taking over the AT&T Center, and the Spurs’ next home game isn’t until Feb. 26. The Spurs fared well in Saturday’s home game by overcoming a 19-point, third-quarter deficit to rout the Charlotte Hornets 114-90.

San Antonio outscored the Hornets 64-27 in the second half. Shooting guard DeMar DeRozan scored 24 points in the victory and has tallied 30 or more in three of the last five games. Power forward LaMarcus Aldridge had just eight points after missing the previous two games with a thumb injury.

Los Angeles Clippers Preview

Small forward Kawhi Leonard looks to score 30 or more points for the 10th consecutive appearance when the Los Angeles Clippers host the San Antonio Spurs on Monday. Leonard stretched his streak to nine with 31 points in Saturday’s 118-106 home win over the Minnesota Timberwolves and he stands two shy of the franchise mark held by Lloyd Free (1979-80 season) during the club’s San Diego era.

Leonard averaged 27.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 3.3 steals in three games earlier this season against the Spurs, the team he spent seven seasons with at the outset of his career. The Clippers won two of the three games. Forward Paul George scored 21 points against Minnesota to help Los Angeles win for the seventh time in nine games.
