The San Jose Sharks aim to ride the momentum of Joe Thornton’s milestone night into their Thursday game against the host Edmonton Oilers. Thornton became the 14th player in NHL history to reach the 1,500-point plateau after notching two assists in San Jose’s 3-1 victory at Calgary on Tuesday.

Evander Kane, who celebrated his 700th game by scoring his team-leading 20th goal on Tuesday, has a goal and an assist in two meetings with the Oilers this season. Defenseman Erik Karlsson, who has been held off the scoresheet in each of the past three games, notched three of his club-best 32 assists in the Sharks’ 6-3 victory over Edmonton on Nov. 12.

The Edmonton Oilers look to rebound from their third shutout loss of the season when they open a three-game homestand against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday. Edmonton erupted for 26 goals during a five-game point streak (4-0-1) before being unceremoniously blanked in a 3-0 setback at Arizona on Tuesday.

Leon Draisaitl, who saw his 11-game point streak come to a halt against the Coyotes, shares the team lead in goals (29) with captain Connor McDavid and has club-best 54 assists. Draisaitl has collected one goal and two assists in the first two meetings with the Sharks this season while McDavid has one and three, respectively.
