San Jose Sharks Preview

The San Jose Sharks aim to snap a three-game winless skid (0-2-1) when they open a four-game road trip against the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday. Joe Thornton scored his third goal in five contests on Sunday for the Sharks, who dropped their third straight one-goal decision with a 4-3 setback versus Colorado.

The 40-year-old had an assist on the game-winning goal in San Jose’s 5-4 win at Chicago on Oct. 4 and set up another goal in the Sharks’ 4-2 victory over the Blackhawks on Nov. 5. Thornton is expected to play in his 1,636th game on Wednesday to move into sole possession of ninth place on the NHL’s all-time list.

Chicago Blackhawks Preview

The Chicago Blackhawks aim to locate their offense on Wednesday when they continue their three-game homestand against the San Jose Sharks. The Blackhawks erupted for 17 non-shootout goals during a four-game winning streak before falling 2-1 at NHL-worst Detroit on Friday and taking a 2-0 setback against visiting St. Louis two nights later.

The Blackhawks were swept by the Blues for the first time since St. Louis entered the NHL in 1967-68, and they’ll look to avert the brooms on Wednesday when they host the Sharks. Patrick Kane notched an assist in both Chicago’s 5-4 loss versus the Sharks on Oct. 4 and in the Blackhawks’ 4-2 setback at San Jose on Nov. 5.
