Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons

Carolina Panthers Preview

The Carolina Panthers entered a new era this week, after owner David Tepper fired head coach Ron Rivera 12 games through his ninth year leading the team. Perry Fewell will serve as interim head coach over the final four weeks, and he’ll start by trying to avenge an ugly 26-point loss at home to the Falcons three weeks ago. Kyle Allen threw four interceptions and was sacked five times in that contest, but he has rebounded with five touchdown passes and just one interception the last two weeks. He also scored on a 17-yard scramble on Sunday, though he didn’t exactly do so with the athleticism of injured starter Cam Newton.

Atlanta Falcons Preview

Kenjon Barner has one of the highlight plays of the season for the Atlanta Falcons with a punt return for a touchdown last month at Carolina. The 78-yard play came against the team he used to play for in Atlanta’s 29-3 romp. Things haven’t been so rosy for the Falcons since, as they lost by 12 at home to Tampa Bay and by eight at home to New Orleans on Thanksgiving Night. Sunday will mark their fifth straight divisional game, with the final one to come at Tampa Bay in Week 17. The Falcons’ defense has allowed 61 points over the last two weeks after allowing just 12 in the previous two.
