Oregon State Beavers at Oregon Ducks

Oregon State Beavers Preview

The Oregon State Beavers, entering a Thursday game at rival Oregon, are riding a three-game losing streak after a one-point loss at Arizona State on Saturday. The skid began on Feb. 15, after the Beavers had won back-to-back games over Oregon and Utah. Oregon State held the Ducks to a season-low 53 points in the first meeting, in part due to the effort on Oregon star Payton Pritchard. He shot just 1-for-8 from 3-point range.

On the season, however, 3-point defense has been a problem for the Beavers. Opponents are hitting 34.2 percent from deep, which includes Arizona’s 10-of-21 performance on Feb. 20. On offense, Oregon State has been one of the nation’s top teams shooting from inside the arc at 53.2 percent.

Oregon Ducks Preview

The Oregon Ducks rebounded from a Feb. 20 loss at Arizona State with a raucous, come-from-behind win in overtime at Arizona on Saturday behind Payton Pritchard’s career-high 38 points. The senior guard sets the tone for the Oregon offense in all phases, both as a scorer and facilitator, leading the Pac-12 with averages of 20.1 points and 5.5 assists per game.

In the Ducks’ first meeting with rival Oregon State in Corvallis, a 63-53 Beavers win on Feb. 8, Pritchard scored 16 points and handed out nine assists. The difference was a typically explosive Oregon offense having just one other scorer reach double figures, with Chris Duarte hitting for 11 points.
