Oklahoma Sooners at Oklahoma State Cowboys

Oklahoma Sooners Preview

The Oklahoma Sooners head to rival Oklahoma State on Saturday to begin an important stretch for their NCAA Tournament aspirations. Oklahoma dropped back-to-back games to No. 1 Baylor and No. 3 Kansas following back-to-back wins against West Virginia and Iowa State.

The Sooners are 5-7 since Jan. 11 but have played nothing but top-100 opponents per KenPom.com — including the Cowboys, whom Oklahoma beat 82-69 on Feb. 1 in Norman. The Sooners’ strength of schedule is ranked among the top 20 in the nation, and Kristian Doolittle (15.6 points per game) and Brady Manek (15.3 pgg) will need big contributions to keep the team on track.

Oklahoma State Cowboys Preview

The Oklahoma State Cowboys endured a six-game losing streak to open conference play, but they are 4-4 overall since, having won three of their past four Big 12 games. Oklahoma State stunned Texas Tech 73-70 on Feb. 15 before dropping a 65-47 decision at West Virginia on Tuesday.

The Cowboys now return home to Gallagher-Iba Arena, where they have won their past two. Making it three straight in Stillwater starts with the Cowboys’ defense, which holds opponents to a low 30.6 percent success rate on 3-point attempts. Also aiding the defense are Yor Anei, averaging 1.9 blocks per game, and Isaac Likekele, averaging 1.9 steals per game.
