North Carolina State Wolfpack at Duke Blue Devils

North Carolina State Wolfpack Preview

North Carolina State pulled out a much-needed comeback victory against visiting Pittsburgh to snap a two-game skid and stabilize its NCAA Tournament hopes Saturday. The Wolfpack are in the middle of the pack in the ACC with two games left against in-state foes: a visit to Duke on Monday and a home matchup with Wake Forest. NC State defeated both teams earlier this season, including a home blowout of Duke on Feb. 19.

Redshirt freshman center Manny Bates posted his first double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds against Pitt, and he added to his ACC-leading total of blocks shots (81). This will be NC State’s third Saturday-to-Monday turnaround in ACC play, with a victory at Virginia and a home loss to North Carolina in the back ends of the previous two.

No. 7 Duke Blue Devils Preview

Duke lost two games in a row for the second time this season. The latest setbacks came on the road in different fashions, with a 113-101 double-overtime loss to Wake Forest and Saturday’s 52-50 decision to Virginia.

The Blue Devils held control of the top seed for the ACC Tournament earlier in the week, and by the end of the weekend were in a tie for third with Virginia that would make them the fourth seed, albeit with two games to go in the regular season. Freshman center Vernon Carey Jr. continues to put up nice numbers with 14 double-doubles, but he has fouled out of the past two games. Duke closes out the regular season at home Saturday against North Carolina.
