New Orleans Saints at Los Angeles Rams – week 2

New Orleans Saints Odds

The rematch of a game that changed the rule book is set for Week 2 at Los Angeles when the Rams play host to a New Orleans Saints team bent on some justice. The Saints were kept out of Super Bowl LIII last year not only after a no-call on what appeared to be pass interference, but head-to-head contact on the same play by Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman. The NFL admitted to both missed calls, but only after the game was completed. Either of the potential penalties would have given the Saints the opportunity to run out the clock and win the NFC Championship Game.  While the NFL has now ruled that pass interference is eligible to be reviewed, not too much else appears different in this matchup against teams which already look like the class of the NFC again. The Saints will enter off a 30-28 Monday night victory that included a second-half comeback and two field goals in the final minute of the game, including a 58-yarder for the victory by Wil Lutz. New Orleans now has a little momentum heading to Los Angeles on the short week.  ,

Los Angeles Rams odds

The Rams will enter off a 30-27 victory at Carolina that would have been much more convincing without three fourth-quarter miscues: a blocked punt, an interception and a missed field goal. The Saints and Rams met three times last year — in the preseason, the regular season and in the playoffs. The Saints won two of those, but not the one they really craved. Last week, running back Todd Gurley II looked like his explosive, pre-playoff self and the Saints have had issues slowing down elite running backs. Gurley’s slashing style sets up Jared Goff and a passing game with no true No. 1 receiver but a fleet of ready pass-catchers. ,
