NC State Wolfpack at Virginia Cavaliers

NC State Wolfpack Preview

The North Carolina State Wolfpack have won 11 consecutive home games but are just 2-4 away from home, including 2-3 in true road games. They avenged one of those road defeats with a 60-54 win over Clemson on Saturday, getting a balanced scoring effort in which DJ Funderburk, Devon Daniels and Markell Johnson each scored 13 points, while C.J. Bryce contributed 11 while playing in his second game after missing four due to a concussion.

Funderburk, a 6-foot-10 junior, has been the Pack’s leading scorer in five of the past six games. Bryce, a 6-5 guard, leads the Wolfpack for the season at 15.0 points per game to go with a team-best 6.6 rebounds.

Virginia Cavaliers Preview

The Virginia Cavaliers ended a three-game losing streak with Saturday’s 63-58 victory at Georgia Tech as 7-foot-1 junior Jay Huff set career highs with 17 points and six blocked shots. Due to its deliberate pace and woeful outside shooting (26.8 percent on 3-pointers), Virginia hasn’t scored more than 65 points in any of its 17 games, and the Cavs average a scant 55.8 per contest.

Of course, it’s all relative as Tony Bennett’s pack-line defense allows opponents to shoot just 35.6 percent and score 49.5 points per game. The Cavaliers went 2-0 against North Carolina State last season, holding them to 10 of 46 shooting from 3-point range.
