Navy Midshipmen Preview

Since completing a stretch of four wins in five Patriot League games on Jan. 22, the Navy Midshipmen have lost six of the past eight, including its first matchup with rival Army. Navy most recently dropped a 71-62 decision at American on Wednesday, when it shot just 17.6 percent (3 of 17) from behind the 3-point arc.

Army Black Knights Preview

The inside-outside scoring combination of Tommy Funk and Matt Wilson (16.8 and 16.4 points per game, respectively) paces the Army Black Knights ahead of their home date with Navy on Saturday. The duo combined for 44 points on 17-of-21 shooting from 2-point range in Army’s 73-66 win at Navy on Jan. 25.

Their combined, effective touch from inside the 3-point arc reflects a season-long trend: Army ranks No. 6 among all Division I teams in 2-point shooting at 56.6 percent. One contributing factor to Army’s effectiveness is getting clean looks, and Funk’s 6.8 assists per game play a role. Funk ranks eighth among all Division I players in assists.
