Mississippi State Bulldogs Preview

The Mississippi State Bulldogs go into their Tuesday game as one of the hottest teams in the Southeastern Conference after winning their past five league outings behind one of the league’s top performers. Sophomore forward Reggie Perry has averaged 24.4 points and 11 rebounds in his past five conference games and is coming off a 24-point, 12-rebound performance in Mississippi State’s 86-73 win over Tennessee on Saturday.

Redshirt freshman guard D.J. Stewart Jr. also had a big game against the Vols with a season-high 20 points, hitting 4 of 5 attempts from 3-point range. The Bulldogs lost 13 in a row in the series with Kentucky, including the past six in Lexington.

Kentucky Wildcats Preview

If the Kentucky Wildcats needed further evidence of how valuable forward Nick Richards and point guard Ashton Hagans are to their fortunes, they learned it the hard way in a 75-66 loss at Auburn on Saturday. Richards scored only seven points and Hagans just five as they both struggled with foul issues in the defeat. Richards had a streak of nine consecutive double-figure games working and Hagans had been in double figures six of his previous seven games.

Of critical concern with the prospect of facing the league’s top rebounder, Mississippi State forward Reggie Perry, is that Auburn dominated the rebounding 42-28 and enjoyed a 17-5 advantage in second-chance points.
