Marquette Golden Eagles at Providence College Friars

Marquette Golden Eagles Preview

The Marquette Golden Eagles will look to return to their winning ways when they travel to Providence for a Big East Conference game Saturday. Marquette might be the ranked team, but it trails the Friars by a half-game in the league standings. Markus Howard, second in the nation with an average of 26.7 points per game, was held to 13 points on 4-of-14 shooting in a defeat to No. 15 Creighton on Tuesday.

A game at Providence has good memories for Howard after he scored 52 points there in 2018. Sacar Anim, who is second on the team at 13.3 points per game, had 18 against Creighton.

Providence Friars Preview

The Providence Friars, who have won two consecutive games and four of their past six, figure to lean heavily on Alpha Diallo when they play host to Marquette in Saturday’s Big East Conference game. In fourth place in the Big East, Providence is the only unranked team in the top six of the standings.

Diallo has a combined 53 points in the past two games, looking nothing like the player who was removed from the starting lineup for one game on Feb. 1 because of struggles. Providence is looking for a season sweep of Marquette after posting an 81-80 overtime victory on Jan. 7 at Milwaukee.
