Manchester City Odds Against West Ham United
Manchester City returns to league action as they host West Ham United on Wednesday evening. The match was originally scheduled to be played last Sunday but due to concerns over Storm Ciara in the UK, the match was postponed.
Both clubs’ winter break has been cut short due to the rescheduling of the match and may come to be positive for both clubs.
Both sides ended their last match winless and in City’s case, they were defeated in a controversial 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur. It was City’s first loss in six as they now stand 22 points behind Liverpool and are just two points ahead of Leicester City in third.
West Ham United have not won a Premier League match since David Moyes’ first game in charge, a 4-0 home win over Bournemouth. Things looked promising under Moyes, who took over from Manuel Pellegrini. The investment West Ham has made in their squad has been substantial and Pellegrini simply did not get the best out of the team and the hierarchy didn’t think things could worse under a new manager.
Sadly, they did. West Ham now sits in 18th in the league and has conceded 43 goals; the second-most in the Premier League this season.
Manchester City Odds While Prepping for a Tough West Ham Squad
West Ham faces a difficult stretch in the coming weeks with fixtures against Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur in five of their next six league games.
Manchester City has dominated West Ham in the Premier League in recent years and has won six straight league games and eight games in a row in all competitions. City has also scored at least four goals against West Ham in four of their last six league fixtures including five in a 5-0 win earlier this season in August.
Both clubs are not in the best of spirits at the moment which makes this an interesting fixture.
Sportsbooks odds on Manchester City making seven league wins in a row against West Ham open at -100, making them overwhelming favorites. Odds on a West Ham win open at +220, according to sportsbooks. Odds on a tie open at +900.
Could Manchester City Lose their Second Spot?
Manchester City conceded their title about two months ago. Since then, they’ve been competing for the second spot in the Premier League and trying to make this season as respectably as possible.
However, they have competition for the second spot. They sit just two points ahead of Leicester City with Man City having a difficult upcoming few weeks with fixtures against Manchester United, Chelsea, Leicester City, and Real Madrid twice in the Champions League.
City remain favorites to finish second with odds of -2500, it will not be an easy task competing with a young and hungry side like Leicester City.
