Manchester City vs Fulham

Manchester City Odds Against Fulham

Manchester City continues its defense of the FA Cup trophy against Sky Bet Championship side Fulham in the third round of the competition. Last year’s FA Cup triumph for Man City was their first since 2011 and their sixth overall.

The trophy completed their domestic treble in which they became the first English team to achieve one. They defeated Watford 6-0 in the final last year which tied the biggest margin of victory in the history of the FA Cup.

This year, however, things haven’t run so smoothly for Man City. Despite being second in the league, they are a staggering 16 points behind league leaders Liverpool who have a game in hand.

Liverpool is on track to break Manchester City’s record of 100 points in a league campaign and is closing in on Arsenal’s remarkable 49 games unbeaten streak in the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons.

City has lost just once in their last eight games and got back to winning games when they defeated Sheffield United 1-0 in a closely fought contest in a mid-week game.

Guardiola rested Aguero after the Argentine played 90 minutes twice shortly after returning from injury. His replacement Gabriel Jesus had the opportunity to score as City were awarded a penalty. However, the Brazilian saw his penalty saved by on-loan Manchester United keeper Dean Henderson in the first half.

Aguero finally saw the pitch in the 70th minute and responded with a 16th league goal of the season just four minutes after his introduction. City managed to hold on to move slightly closer to Liverpool who remains a staggering 13 points ahead of the current champions.

Manchester City Odds Coming Up Against a Strong Fulham Squad

Fulham, on the other hand, is thriving in the Championship in their first season back after getting relegated from the Premier League last season in their sole season back in England’s topflight season.

Fulham sits third in the table, four points behind Leeds United in second and five points behind West Bromwich Albion in first. Serbian international Aleksandar Mitrovic is the joint top scorer with 18 goals in 26 games as Fulham are aiming for immediate promotion back to the Premier League.

Fulham knocked out Premier League club Aston Villa in the third round of the competition with a 2-1 win while City bounced out Port Vale with a comfortable 4-1 win.

Manchester City’s record against Fulham, however, is one of complete recent dominate.

City has a run of eight consecutive wins against Fulham in all competitions. They won both meetings in the Premier League last year with an aggregate scoreline of 5-0.

Sportsbooks odds on a City home win opens at -1000, making them overwhelming favorites. Odds on Fulham marking their first win against Man City since 2009 opens at +1600, according to sportsbooks. Odds on the full-time result ending in a draw opens at +900.

A Cup win but that is not the most important trophy Pep is marked to win.

Is Pep’s Status as a Legendary Coach Under Threat?

This season continues to rank as Pep’s worst as a professional manager and despite the copious amounts of money he’s spent in Manchester including last summer’s acquisition of the £62 million man Rodri (breaking City’s transfer record) while Liverpool spent a total of £1.3 million on a 17-year old Sepp van den Berg does not cover Pep in the best light.

At each club he’s been at, Pep has either had a talented team to work with or given money to buy quality, despite his mass success, he’s yet to do what Klopp has done at two clubs and that is: build a team from nothing.

If Klopp ends up winning the league and more, he may be remembered as a better manager than Guardiola for his ability to build sides and mold them into his image.

Pep’s under real pressure and whether he sticks it out at City and jump ship once again remains to be seen.
