Tampa Bay Lightning at Minnesota Wild
Tampa Bay Lightning Preview
Andrei Vasilevskiy could be in line to record his 10th straight victory on Thursday when the Tampa Bay Lightning visit the Minnesota Wild in Saint Paul, Minn. The reigning Vezina Trophy recipient received the night off on Sunday when the Lightning saw their franchise-record-tying, 10-game winning streak halted against New Jersey, but he returned to the crease two nights later to make 38 saves in a 4-3 shootout victory versus Los Angeles.
Vasilevskiy, who is attempting to match his career-best, 10-start winning streak set from Feb. 9-March 5, 2019, sports a 13-1-1 mark since yielding five goals on 21 shots in a 5-4 setback to Minnesota on Dec. 5. Reigning Hart Trophy recipient Nikita Kucherov has five goals and five assists in his past nine games, and he has a team-leading 50 points.
Minnesota Wild Preview
The Minnesota Wild aim to snap a season-high-tying, four-game losing skid (0-3-1) on Thursday when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning in Saint Paul, Minn. The Wild, who opened the campaign with four straight regulation setbacks, dropped their sixth contest in seven games (1-5-1) with a 7-3 defeat to Pittsburgh on Tuesday. Zach Parise scored twice versus the Penguins to boost his goal total to 16, tying Eric Staal for the team lead.
Marcus Foligno has flipped the script since the calendar turned to 2020, collecting five goals and one assist in five games in January after mustering four and eight, respectively, in his previous 31 games. Mats Zuccarello collected a goal and two assists in Minnesota’s 5-4 victory at Tampa Bay on Dec. 5.
