Los Angeles Lakers at Houston Rockets

Los Angeles Lakers preview

The Los Angeles Lakers look to regain their footing after a recent misstep when they open a five-game road trip against the Houston Rockets on Saturday. The Lakers saw their nine-game winning streak end on Wednesday in a 119-118 setback against Orlando. LeBron James scored 19 points and matched his career high with 19 assists, but the four-time NBA MVP misfired on a late 3-point attempt to send Los Angeles to its eighth loss of the season.

James made 7 of 19 shots from the field two days after he sank 12 of 16 shots in a 128-99 victory over Cleveland. The Lakers, who sport a 17-3 road record, might be without Anthony Davis (bruised backside) for the fifth consecutive contest.

Houston Rockets preview

The Houston Rockets have lost two in a row and three of their past four contests heading into their Saturday home game against the Los Angeles Lakers. James Harden, who averages an NBA-best 37.2 points per game, was limited to just 13 on 3-of-12 shooting from the floor Wednesday in Houston’s 117-107 setback versus Portland.

The scoring output was Harden’s lowest in the regular season since he had 10 against Minnesota on Jan. 18, 2018. Russell Westbrook recorded a triple-double with 31 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds against the Trail Blazers. Westbrook has scored at least 20 points in 15 consecutive games dating back to early December.
