The Los Angeles Lakers bid for their third straight victory on Wednesday when they visit the Denver Nuggets in their final game before the NBA All-Star break. The Lakers posted a 125-100 win over Phoenix on Monday, marking the first time since 2010 that they have recorded their 40th victory of the season prior to the All-Star break.

Anthony Davis collected 25 points and 10 rebounds against the Suns and had the same totals in Los Angeles’ 105-96 win at Denver on Dec. 3. Davis bettered those marks with 32 and 11, respectively, in the next encounter on Dec. 22, although the Nuggets handed the Lakers their second-biggest loss of the season with a 128-104 decision. LeBron James did not play in that game.

Denver Nuggets Preview

The Denver Nuggets look to record their fifth consecutive win on Wednesday when they host the Los Angeles Lakers in their final game before the NBA All-Star break. Jamal Murray scored 23 of his 26 points in the second half as Denver posted its sixth victory in seven outings with a 127-120 win over San Antonio on Monday.

Murray, who is shooting 58.9 percent from the field and 48.4 percent from 3-point range in four games this month, had a team-high 22 points in the Nuggets’ 105-96 setback to the Lakers on Dec. 3. Murray, however, made just 3 of 11 shots for six points in the rematch, a 128-104 victory in Los Angeles on Dec. 22. Nikola Jokic, who averages team-best totals in points (20.6), rebounds (10.2) and assists (6.9), had a season-high 13 assists against the Spurs.
